A MedsCheck is a scheduled, one-on-one appointment with one of our pharmacists to review everything you take — prescriptions, over-the-counter products, vitamins and supplements — in one sitting.
It's a chance to ask the questions there's never time for at the counter. What is each medication actually for? Should any of these be taken at a different time of day? Is anything here doing the same job twice, or working against something else? Are the side effects you've been putting up with something we can do anything about?
The program is funded by the Ontario government, so there is no charge to you — you just need a valid Ontario health card.

There's also a MedsCheck for Diabetes, for anyone living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. That one has no three-medication requirement — if you have diabetes, you qualify.

If you're unable to come in — because of mobility, illness or simply not being able to travel — we can do your medication review at your home instead. It's the same review, at your kitchen table, and it's also funded by Ontario.
It pairs naturally with our free delivery across Essex County and Windsor: if we're already bringing your prescriptions to you, we can review them with you at the same time. Call (519) 738-2400 to arrange one.
Keep it in your wallet or bag. It's genuinely useful at any medical appointment, and it matters most in an emergency — if you ever can't speak for yourself, that single sheet tells hospital staff exactly what you're on. Bring it back to us whenever anything changes and we'll update it.
You can have a full MedsCheck once every twelve months. You may also qualify for a follow-up review sooner if something significant changes — for example after a stay in hospital, if your medications change substantially, or if your doctor refers you.

Yes. The MedsCheck for Diabetes has no three-medication requirement — if you're living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, you're eligible.
If we find something that needs your prescriber's attention, we'll contact them directly with our recommendations. Routine reviews with nothing to flag don't need to involve your doctor.
It's easiest if we have your full medication history, but come and talk to us either way — and if you'd like to move your prescriptions to us, we can arrange the transfer at the same time.
